Accurately recording time worked is the responsibility of every nonexempt team member. Federal and state laws require Centerspace to keep an accurate record of time worked in order to calculate team member pay and benefits. Time worked is defined as all time spent on the job performing duties.

Nonexempt team members should accurately record the time they begin and end their work, as well as the beginning and ending time of each meal period, using the company’s electronic timekeeping system.  They should also record the beginning and ending time of any split shift or departure from work for personal or medical reasons.

Altering, falsifying, tampering with time records, or recording time on another team member’s time record may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Nonexempt team members should report to work no more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled starting time nor stay more than 15 minutes after their scheduled stop time without prior authorization from their manager.  Team members are expected to clock in immediately prior to beginning any work for Centerspace, and team members will be compensated from the moment they clock in, for all time worked.  Overtime work must always be approved before it is performed.  While team members can be disciplined for not seeking prior approval for overtime, they must still be paid for any overtime worked.

It is the team member’s responsibility to approve their time records to certify the accuracy of all time recorded.  The manager will review and then approve the accuracy of the time recorded before submitting it for payroll processing.  In addition, if corrections or modifications are made to the time record, both the team member and the manager must verify the accuracy of the changes and the manager must communicate the corrections to the Payroll department.

All exempt team members are required to accurately report paid time off to their manager and payroll, to ensure the correct calculation of payroll and benefit balances.
