Centerspace offers Paid Time Off (PTO) to eligible team members to provide flexible leave options. Whether you need time for rest and relaxation, the pursuit of personal interests, or for medical purposes, Centerspace's PTO policy ensures you have the flexibility to take time for the things that are important to you.
All regular full-time team members are eligible to earn and use PTO as described in this policy. Eligible team members will begin accruing PTO on their start date and are able to use it as it is accrued. PTo accrual rates and balances can be viewed on the team member's paystub, which can be found in Centerspace's electronic timekeeping system. The amount of PTO team members receive and maximum balance allowed is based on years of service as shown in the following schedule:

*PTO is accrued based on hours worked and applicable paid leave. Team members who take unpaid time will accrue less than the scheduled amount.
Years of service are calculated based on hire date and tenure with the company. Accrual is increased according to milestone anniversary as outlined in the table above. Extended leave (examples: military leave or workers' compensation) has no effect on this calculation.
Once non-eligible team members enter an eligible employment classification, they will begin to earn PTO according to their years of service at the time of the classification change.
Leave requests are submitted using Centerspace's electronic timekeeping system and will be reviewed and approved or denied based on several factors, including business needs and staffing requirements. When possible, 2 weeks' advance notice should be given for leave requests.
Non-exempt team members may take PTO in any increment. Exempt team members are expected to take PTO in whole-or half-day increments, or in hourly increments where required by state law.
Emergency or unplanned leave (examples: illness or injury) should follow Centerspace's notification guidelines as outlined in the Time & Attendance policy, including the team member notifying their manager at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled shift.
PTO is paid at the team member's base pay rate at the time that leave is taken and does not include overtime or other forms of compensation such as stipends, commissions, or bonuses.
Centerspace does not allow team members to carry a negative PTO balance. In the event a team member needs time off and does not have enough accrued PTO, the time would be unpaid and should be recorded in Centerspace's timekeeping software as unpaid time.
While Centerspace does not track the purpose of PTO leave requests, we reserve the right to request medical documentation for recurring appointments, excessive absences, and in relation to any relevant leave policy such as FMLA.
Maximum PTO Balance
The maximum number of PTO hours a team member can carry at any time will be no more than their maximum annual PTO balance. When the maximum is reached, no additional hours will accrue until the team member has used some portion of their accrued PTO, thereby reducing the amount of accrued PTO to below the permitted maximum. Future or pending PTO requests will not deduct from the PTO balance until the time off has been taken.
PTO Payout Upon Termination
PTO may not be used to extend a termination date and may not be used for a last day worked. Upon termination, unused accrued PTO will be paid out to the team member as a lump sum, subject to a maximum of 80 PTO hours, unless Centerspace is subject to other requirements under local law.
