This QRG covers different features to help you utilize Microsoft Teams to make it easy to use in your daily work routine.


Joining a Meeting

  1. From your Teams calendar, select Join.
  2. Choose the following for this Teams call:
    1. Turn your Camera on/off
      • If you're turning your camera on, be sure to select a blurred background or use the Centerspace background. That can be found HERE.
    2. Microphone mute/unmute
    3. Audio settings
      • Before joining, test your audio using the Test Mic & Speaker button
  3. Click Join now.

Meeting Etiquette


  • Mute when not speaking
  • Use the Raise Hand feature to ask questions
  • Turn on your camera when appropriate
  • Be mindful of background noise


Sharing Content
  • Select Share.
  • Choose:
    • Entire screen
    • Window
    • PowerPoint presentation
    • Whiteboard
  • Select Stop Sharing when finished.
  • If sharing a video and you need sound, turn on the Include Sound toggle.
  • You can also toggle on/off include sound from the control bar

Immersive Reader

  • Available in Teams chat and messages.
  • Helps improve readability with:
    • Read aloud
    • Text spacing

Keyboard Shortcuts


Useful shortcuts include:

  • Ctrl+Shift+M: Mute/Unmute
  • Ctrl+Shift+O: Camera On/Off
  • Ctrl+E: Search
  • Ctrl+N: Start new chat


Accessibility Best Practices

  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace.
  • Describe visual content shared on screen.
  • Use captions whenever possible.
  • Share materials before meetings when appropriate.
  • Ensure slides use sufficient color contrast.
