How to acquire and access a Power BI License

 

To request a license:

  1. Please submit a ticket in the Support Center, requesting a Pro license for Power BI. If it will require permission from your supervisor, have your supervisor submit the request on your behalf.
    1. If you would like to have Power BI Desktop installed on your computer, please note that in your ticket and someone on the IT team will install that for you.

 

Access your license:

  1. When you are notified that your license has been added to your profile in Microsoft, you can log into Microsoft using this link, and access Power BI online.

    2. Click on the dot matrix in the upper left corner. Power BI should appear on this list. If it does not, click on All Apps.

    4. Since you are already logged in to your Microsoft account when you get to this point, you should automatically be logged in.
    5. If you click on your personal icon in the upper right-hand corner you should see ‘Pro’ under the license type.
    6. If you previously signed up for a free account, that may also show in a countdown, but rest assured, your license is in full affect if it shows up on your account.
      1. If you are unsure one of two things can take place, or there appears to be a conflict:
        1. You can click cancel next to the trial countdown
        2. IT can remove your free license from your profile in the Admin console
        3. If there is still an issue, please log out and log back in
