Please note as of 5/1/2024 the HP Scan & Capture application has been retired and is not available for new installations and will no longer receive updates. The HP Smart app should be installed instead and should be used for scanning on devices going forward outside of email.

Scanning Process -

 1. Launch the HP scan & capture app by searching for it in windows.

  2. If you have a default device selected (or last device used to scan) it will show up under the HP Scan and capture header - shown below. If you try and scan immediately, it will attempt to use this device.

3. To select a new device, hit the 3 lines in the upper left and hit settings

4. Hit select device

5. Your computer will automatically detect any devices on the network. You will need to pay attention to your device name to make sure you are selecting the right device. If the software isn't finding your device, you can manually search by IP address and enter it into the field below.

NOTE: To find your IP address, go up to the printer LCD screen and hit the network icon and view your printer IP address. If no IP address is shown, it means your printer may not be connected to a network and may need to be verified/rebooted.

6. Once your device has been verified, you can hit "Capture photos" or "Capture documents" on the main screen once the document is on the scanner glass and it will immediately start scanning and you can save the scan, etc. once done.
